February 2010

"Poston" was displayed at the Escondido Center for the Arts.  It was met with great enthusiasm and viewers were shocked at the sheer number of names of actual internees - and that this was only one of TEN camps.  I am excited about seeing all ten of these on display in 2012.

A video of the work in progress can be seen here:.  Since it was the first of ten camps that were assembled, much of the work was done in my living room!!!

February 6 - May 3 2012

"E.O. 9066" and "The Tag Project" will debut at the University Art Gallery at San Diego State University.  The Opening Reception will take place on Friday evening on February 10th, from 6:00-8:30.  There will be a talk by the artist in the gallery from 6:00-6:30 PM.

We will be planning several events to coincide with the exhibition.  There will be an Inaugural Celebration event in March, hosted by SDSU and the Japanese American Historical Society of San Diego.   The SDSU Art Council is hosting a bus trip to the 2012 Manzanar Pilgrimage on April 28, 2012.

Upcoming venues:

Arizona State University Art Museum, Tempe AZ Fall 2014

San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, San Jose, CA Spring 2014

San Francisco Museum of Craft and Design, San Francisco, CA Fall 2014

It is critical that the exhibition travels to areas that are NOT familiar with the Japanese American Internment Camps.  It is ALSO supremely important that the exhibit travels to areas close to where the camps were located, thus the reasons for seeking out venues in Arizona/Utah, Colorado, Wyoming,  or Idaho.
